These days, Taylor Swift is wearing her heart on her sleeve. The singer?s forthcoming ?Red? album seems to be somewhat of a tell-all of past relationships, and she?s even been openly talking about ? albeit lightly ? her new boyfriend, Conor Kennedy. In Swift?s 2012 Rolling Stone cover issue, she touches on those topics and more.
Swift takes on the respected magazine?s front page not looking so much like her prim and proper self. The ?Begin Again? hitmaker is shown with smeared eyeliner, wearing mega-short shorts and a white tee under an oversized navy blue letterman jacket. She looks just like the all-American girl she?s always been ? only sexier. And inside the cover, Swift is even sassier than normal, which could be the result of years of heat she?s taken in the press for her relationships.
?The way I look at love is you have to follow it, and fall hard, if you fall hard. You have to forget about what everyone else thinks,? Swift told RS, according to Oh No They Didn?t. ?It has to be an us-against-the-world mentality. You have to make it work by prioritizing it, and by falling in love really fast, without thinking too hard. If I think too hard about a relationship I?ll talk myself out of it. ?I have rules for a lot of areas of my life. Love is not going to be one of them.?
If that sounds like a romantic notion to you, that?s becomes it is ? Swift doesn?t deny that she?s a hardcore romantic at heart. ?I love the ending of a movie where two people end up together. Preferably if there?s rain and an airport or running or a confession of love,? she says, as everyone?s mind jumps to ?The Notebook.?
Unfortunately, her crash-and-burn relationships with former flings Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer ? which have been well-chronicled in the 22-year-old?s lyrics ? might have ended in an airport, but perhaps with two people going separate ways. She sings about her break-up with a mystery man in the leading single from ?Red,? ?We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,? and it?s been speculated that the hit is about her time with Gyllenhaal.
Despite the hard splits, and what the media may portray, the ?Story of Us? hitmaker insists that she?s not the kind of girl who ?hooks up? with several different guys. ?Where?s the romance? Where?s the magic in that?? she asks. ?I?m just not that girl.?
The Grammy Award-winning songstress definitely has magic with her new flame, 18-year-old Conor Kennedy, however. The two young lovers have been spotted hanging with each others? families in Massachusetts and Nashville, and Swift reportedly even flew her boyfriend out on a private jet just to visit her. Some say she?s moving too fast, but Swift doesn?t want to hear it.
?How did I kidnap him?,? she responds, referencing reports that she took Kennedy to Music City against his will. ?You can?t kidnap a grown man! These are serious accusations, now! It?s an interesting way to spin something into a story. See, this is why I don?t read stuff.?
When it boils down to it, Swift is more secure than ever in who she is and who she?ll stay. We have a feeling she?ll only grow more confident as ?Red? hits stores on Oct. 22 and inevitably breaks new records.
